What is Waxing?
Waxing is a semi-permanent means of hair removal with results that can last up to six weeks (depending on your hair growing cycle). Waxing is ideal for the face, arms, legs, and large areas like the back, or bikini line.
This process involves applying warm (not hot) wax to the treatment area. Hair needs to be a little longer for waxing than it does for threading. Longer hair adheres more securely to the linen strips that are used to quickly remove waxed hair from the desired location.
Over time – with repeated treatment – hair in the treatment area should become thinner and may eventually not continue to grow.
Benefits of Waxing
Ingrown hair
Waxing minimizes the likelihood of ingrown hair
Long lasting result
A wax session keeps the skin smooth and glowing over a longer period of time
Finer hair regrowth
As your hair begins to grow back after each wax treatment, you will notice that the hairs will grow finer and less dense
Tips & Care
before the wax
- wait at least 2.5 weeks after shaving to get waxed, because hair won’t come out if it isn’t at least 1/4” long (the length of an eyelash or grain of white rice)
- do not trim or shave before getting waxed, because if hair is too short it won’t come out
- if you’re sensitive, take an OTC pain reliever an hour before your appointment
after the wax
- your skin might look and feel like a sunburn for a few days
- apply aloe, diaper rash cream, or antibiotic ointment to sore areas and hydrocortisone cream to itchy or raised areas
- avoid exercise, hot tubs, & saunas for 24 hours
- if you’re going in the sun wear sunscreen on waxed areas to avoid skin damage or hyperpigmentation
waxing maintenance
- wax regularly (every 4-6 weeks) so hair becomes lighter, thinner, & less painful to wax
- exfoliate regularly to prevent and treat ingrown hairs, & visit lollybat.com for more information & products
- avoid exercise, hot tubs, & saunas for 24 hours
- don’t shave between waxing appointments as it can cause hair to grow in thicker & darker – just let it grow instead
